Capital called on Kognitio to help implement and maintain
a Data Warehouse, which would drive their Campaign Management
Strategy. |

Kognitio became involved as a direct result of its expertise
and experience in data handling and for the reputation in
the industry of its tools in data migration and warehousing.
Kognitio successfully implemented the new Data Warehouse
design using their Data Transformation and Loading Tool known
in the industry as DFTK (Data Factory Tool Kit) to maintain
the Data Warehouse.
At the time the project was completed (1999), GE Capital's
Data Warehouse was the biggest marketing database in Europe,
taking regular feeds from 5 operational databases and comprising
1.5 Terabytes of data from 32 million accounts. In turn, the
warehouse is used to populate 8 data marts.
This project was undertaken in partnership with Intrinsic,
Microstrategy, SAS & Sequent. This shared working environment
simulates Kognitio's experience of working with different
departments within many large UK Insurance companies, giving
us the position of being the UK's leading Insurance &
Financial Services Information Management and Data Movement
Specialists.
Kognitio's knowledge and experience of working with financial
services data was an essential element to the successful completion
of the project, enabling it to:
- clean and transform data across all client streams (Debenhams,
House of Fraser, Storehouse etc)
- design data aggregation and lifetime processes
- build (load) the warehouse
- design and implement daily and weekly processes for refreshing
the database.
Kognitio's project deadline of May 1999 was met with the
entire project completing in late September 1999.
