The Solution
HP Labs continues to use WX2 for research purposes. HP Labs has run various tests using Kognitio WX2 in several configurations including a setup comprising of 290 HP blade server nodes. Conducted by one of only 24 HP Fellows in the entire company, the tests include stringent TPC-H performance benchmarks.
Like many Kognitio users, HP Labs felt that a Proof of Concept was a useful test to determine WX2’s ease of use, as well as the initial short load and configuration speed. The HP Labs team was astounded by the ease of deployment of WX2 when compared to more traditional database software products which are often much more complex and require weeks of work. Loading the WX2 onto HP blade servers was a smooth process and the software was up and running in a fraction of the time of what the HP Labs experts were expecting.
Using their own data for testing purposes, the impressive load and query speed prompted HP Labs to purchase a license of WX2 for further tests. With scanning speeds of 400 million rows per second - outperforming heavily indexed databases - HP Labs clearly recognized how the software-only database solution can benefit organizations faced with the challenge of large-scale data analytics.
