Kognitio signs Umanis as system integrator in France; BI expert offers WX2 analytical database to respond to data explosion

Bracknell, UK and Levallois-Perret, France, 3rd June 2010 - Kognitio, a leading global provider of business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing solutions, today announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with leading French BI and CRM systems integrator, Umanis, which will offer Kognitio's high performance analytical database solution, WX2, to organizations in France. Under the terms of the agreement, Umanis will market, sell, support as well as offer consulting and training on Kognitio's in-memory analytical RDBMS in the French market. Umanis will also offer all three deployment models of WX2, notably on-premise software licenses, fully configured data warehouse appliances and Kognitio's on-demand, service-based Data Warehousing as a Service (DaaS™).

Umanis's director of technology, Eric Delafontenelle, explained, "Many organizations in France are experiencing a continued growth in data volumes but their ability to analyze large amounts of information is restricted by their old-fashioned data warehousing infrastructures as well as high costs to make their databases perform. Add to this the necessity to move from operational BI to adhoc analytics in real time, and a lot of companies need to find an innovative solution. By adding Kognitio's WX2 analytical database to our BI and data warehousing portfolio, we can ensure that our customers conduct real-time, deep-dive analytics at a low cost and get responses to queries in just a matter of seconds. The database offers a refreshing change from the old way of doing business intelligence."

The agreement signed today allows Umanis to market, sell and support Kognitio's WX2 analytical database solution in the French market, adding the solution to its BI and data warehousing portfolio, which includes solutions from Oracle, Microsoft, SAP and IBM. As experts in their field, Umanis will also offer consulting and professional services around Kognitio WX2 to businesses that want to gain a competitive advantage in the market. The agreement was announced today at Umanis' "5 à 7" seminar at their offices in Levallois-Perret, entitled "Help, my data volumes are exploding but my RDBMS just can't cope! High performance at a low cost, is that possible?**" where Kognitio presented the solution.

"Increasing amounts of businesses understand that they need to get more from their operational and customer data in order to drive their business forward and remain competitive," explains Francesco de Asmundis, EMEA business development manager at Kognitio. "To meet this demand in the French market, Kognitio has chosen Umanis based on its expertise and consultative approach in the field of BI and data warehousing as well as its know-how and support for enterprises that are faced with exploding data volumes, risk-averse management and increasing operational costs. Kognitio WX2 offers a fresh approach to the old problem of how businesses can get more valuable information from their data that will help them succeed in today's competitive world, while at the same time reducing their internal costs as much as possible. We are excited to work with Umanis to bring the performance and low TCO of Kognitio WX2 to the French market."

Kognitio's WX2 is used globally by companies across a wide range of established and emerging industries, such as telecommunications, biogenomics, consumer packaged goods, retail, media, marketing, financial services and utilities. It enables them to analyze and gain insights from multiple terabytes of information within seconds or minutes, instead of the hours, days or longer required by legacy database products. Kognitio has architected its WX2 RDBMS to enable the industry's widest range of installation options; the software can be licensed on a global capacity basis, or incorporated in a data warehouse appliance that is built on commodity-based hardware instead of costly proprietary hardware. WX2 is also at the heart of Kognitio's pioneering Data Warehousing as a Service (DaaS™) offering, which allows firms to rapidly implement and derive answers from data on an outsourced basis, at a fraction of the cost and time it would take for a company to buy and install the needed hardware and software.

**Au secours, la volumétrie explose et mon SGBD relationnel est poussif! La haute performance en low-cost, c'est possible?
