Although Kognitio uses
other market-leading ETL tools in its solutions, there are many data
management problems that require specialist software. Kognitio has
therefore invested over 40 man years' effort in the development of
a comprehensive suite of software tools known as the DFTK ('Data Factory
Toolkit').
Unlike many other market products, DFTK provides the technology
to support the end to end data management environment covering all
aspects of data processing. It comprises a fully integrated suite
of tools that have each been developed to solve particular data management
requirements.
These tools greatly extend the capability of the analyst, developer
and tester in designing, building, testing and implementing data
migration and business intelligence solutions. In addition, they
provide the operational functionality to manage the day to day data
warehouse environment.
The tools are robust, have proven performance reliability and can
deal with even the most complex of data management requirements.
The DFTK consists of two distinct sets of tools:
Data Factory Application Management
Suite, which is
a range of integrated applications that includes
- Inquire for the analysis of data;
- Router for the development and control of
data processing routes;
- Mapper for the recording of mappings, monitoring
of mapping progress, recording of issues and generation
of code;
- Data Generator for the creation of expected results to support
testing;
- Browser for the viewing of data during its transition from
source to target format
Data Processing Tools, which is a comprehensive set of software
that is used to extract, validate, manipulate, enhance, compare

Flexible and open environment and architecture
DFTK provides unique flexibility, allowing both high level interactive
configuration and lower level optimised development. All DFTK's
data processing modules have been coded in standard ANSI C which not only
provides ultimate speed efficiency, but also compatibility with
virtually all hardware and operating system environments. The tool kit operates
effectively on anything from Mainframes, powerful UNIX boxes
to desktop PC.
With its remote access facilities, a sophisticated version control
and promotion capability, DFTK is tailored to allow effective use
of offshore resource in the development and testing phases of a project.
